A parking study for downtown Dover will see its third and final public workshop before recommendations go to Dover City Council for review. At the workshop, the MPO, the City and consultants will show: · Study conclusions - what the study did and did not find · Recommendations for parking areas in downtown Dover based upon study results and comments from previous workshops and from area stakeholders · Maps showing recommended changes, such as signs that point the way to available parking · Maps showing recommended areas for streetscaping and reallocation of permit-only and public parking · A timeline of the remaining steps in the process. The downtown Dover parking study began in 2016 with a 10-member group that included stakeholders representing business, residential, municipal and other interests downtown. The main scope of the study for the 10-block area was to find out, using hard data and research, whether there is enough parking in downtown Dover, how to communicate locations of available parking to visitors, parking fee structures, and if more parking areas should be constructed. "As Chair of the Safety, Advisory and Transportation Committee, I eagerly look forward to receiving the long awaited comprehensive parking assessment for the City of Dover," Dover City Councilman Brian E. Lewis said. "Critical to this process is community and stakeholder input. I encourage everyone to participate at the August 24 public workshop at the library from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m."

Kent County Tourism presents Delaware's largest cycling event will take place this year in the heart of Kent County - on Saturday, September 9, 2017, with start and end points at 411 Legislative Avenue in historic Dover. In 2016, cyclists came from 25 states and the UK to take part in this exciting event!

To participate, register online by September 4, or in person at the event on Saturday, September 9 from 7-10 a.m. Cash or credit cards accepted. Event is rain or shine.

This high-energy, family friend race is open to women, men, and children of all ages. On-site race registration will open at 5:00 p.m. on September 13 and the 5K race and fun walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. Immediately following the race there will refreshments, music, and team and individual awards. Online registration is available at http://www.races2run.com and costs $25 per person until September 11th at noon. Day of registration will cost $30 per person.

This race is an opportunity for community members to honor breast cancer survivors and remember those who are no longer with us. Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team. Awards will be presented to top males and females in various age groups along with Teams. The event will take place rain or shine and the 5K course is measured by Rob Muniz. NOVA Timing Systems will chip time using MyLaps bib tags.

Poverty and joblessness are global issues with local solutions.

That's why Arise is hosting a Global Breakfast of Championswith leaders in Dover and surrounding areas to discuss how we can rally local churches, ministries, and businesses to address poverty through the dignity of work.

This event is part of a "Global Day of Champions" where multiple locations around the world will be hosting a similar event in their city.

Sign-in and breakfast will begin at 6:30 a.m., with speaker and discussion to follow at 7:00 a.m. There is no charge for admission; however, donations towards the event and/or the Jobs for Life program will be graciously accepted.
