Community Conversations Hosted by DART

Community Conversations Hosted by DART
DART is hosting “Community Conversations” for you to share your feedback and experiences about DART bus service and offer suggestions on future changes in Kent County.  Join us on Thursday, February 1 at the Dover Library from 4 PM to 7 PM.  

In Dover, topics of conversation will include a new express route between Rehoboth/Lewes and Dover being proposed for May, what may be done to increase ridership on existing Route 119 or its resources will be eligible to reallocate to existing routes where there is a greater demonstrated demand; review of the Route 120 alignment, if it is meeting the market demands along the US 13 Corridor.   In addition, DART is interested in getting input on the needed begin/end times of services, trip frequencies, locations served, etc.

A Network to Freedom

Guided tours will examine the events associated with the Underground Railroad that gave the historic capitol credentials to be a part of the National Park Service “Network to Freedom” and share the story of Samuel D. Burris.

The Evolution of Black Recorded Music: The Roots

This program looks at spiritual artists like Paul Robeson, Marian Anderson and pre-Jazz artists like James Reese Europe and their roles in laying the foundations for future black musicians. This four-part series spans from the earliest years of the record industry to modern times.

Legion of Strangers: The Ebony Doughboys Story

Tom’s Bullpen Hosts “Hearts for KSI” Celebrating ABILITIES

Are you looking for a night out; one that raises funds for KSI, a local nonprofit providing community inclusion programs to adults with varying ABILITIES. And just in time to bring in Valentine’s Day. Tom’s Bullpen, of Dover, will host a community event, Hearts for KSI, on Friday, February 9th, from 6-10 p.m.

There will be live entertainment, raffles, Chinese and silent auction items and a 50/50 drawing. In addition to money collected from the prizes donated on KSI’s behalf, Tom’s Bullpen will also donate the $5 per person cover charge to the agency. Guest bartenders will be competing against one another to see who can raise the most funds for KSI. Join the fun. Just in time for a Valentine’s celebration. Citywide Black History Celebration ~

African American History Live

Live presentations on little-known local African American history including elected officials, education, religion and African American sororities and fraternities. Musical entertainment throughout.

Tickets are free, but required for admission as seating is limited.

Additionally, you can request to receive tickets by mail to the Delaware State News.  Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope, the performance date/time and the number of tickets you would like.  Limited to 4 tickets.
