Morris Day and the Time, a street-wise funk band that has
been thrilling audiences since the early 1980s, will perform at Dover Downs
Hotel & Casino’s Rollins Center on Friday, Aug. 10 at 9 p.m.
Tickets will go on sale at noon Tuesday, April 10 and can be
purchased online at doverdowns.com or by contacting VIP Services at (800)
711-5882. Regular ticket prices range from $35-$55. A limited number of premium
tickets are available for $105, which includes a seat in the first five rows
from the stage and early admission to the Rollins Center.
Morris Day and the Time first formed in Minneapolis in 1981,
and were close associates of Prince. Since the early 1980s, the group has
recorded five albums, all of which have hit the top 10 in U.S. R&B charts,
including “The Time,” “What Time Is It,” “Ice Cream Castle,” “Pandemonium,” and
“Condensate.”
Top singles from the group have included “Jerk Out,” “Jungle
Love,” “The Bird,” “777-9311,” “Wild and Loose,” “Cool,” and “Ice Cream
Castles.”
“It was such an innocent time,” Day said. “We were just
doing our thing, talking the way we talked and dressing the way we dressed. It
was us being us. I’m proud of where I came from musically and the things we’ve
done.”
Day has also been seen in many films, including “Purple
Rain” and “Graffiti Bridge” with Prince, as well as “The Adventures of Ford
Fairlane” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.”
