Wesley College business student Natalie Quigley was selected to receive a Sigma Beta Delta (SBD) Fellowship award from the International Business Honor Society SBD. Quigley is the first Wesley student to earn the honor.

Each of the 255 member chapters can nominate one student to apply for the recognition. Only 30 recipients were selected for the 2018 Fellowship program from among a membership of more than 100,000 members consisting of upper-level undergraduate students, graduate students, and holders of doctorate degrees.

The International Board of Directors, which includes 12 University Business professors from across the country, made the selections. The award has a monetary component for winners to use toward their academic studies.

“Natalie is a second semester junior and her GPA of 3.94 in all of her Business courses completed to date which is higher than her overall GPA of 3.93,” said Wesley Professor of Business Management Dr. Kathleen Jacobs, Quigley’s academic advisor and campus chapter advisor. “This is something the International Board wants to see on a transcript along with involvement in extracurricular activities in addition to outstanding character. It was very easy to recommend Natalie for this prestigious award because her academic record is impeccable as well as her character and I felt that her accomplishments would stand out against larger institutions candidates and they did. We are very proud of her and happy for Natalie.”

In addition to an outstanding academic record, the Georgetown Delaware native is a three-sport athlete competing in cross country, lacrosse, and field hockey. Quigley was twice selected as a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholar of Distinction recipient. NFHCA recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.91 or higher.

“Natalie has consistently earned numerous accolades based upon her academic achievement, community service, athletics, and character during her tenure at Wesley College,” said Dr. Jacobs.

The faculty officers of the Business Honor Society were present September 18 as Quigley was awarded her certificate and check.
