The Wesley College Masters of Occupational Therapy (MOT) Program announced the opening of a pro bono clinic to meet the occupational therapy needs of the underserved in our Delaware communities. The clinic will be a student-run clinic supervised by faculty to provide the students with hands-on learning while offering free or low priced therapy services to those in need.
“The first phase of the program will offer services for the disadvantaged pediatric population in all three counties in Delaware,” said Chair and Director of Graduate Programs in Occupational Therapy, Dr. Varleisha Gibbs. “There is a tremendous shortage of OT services for children and this program will help those families.”
Qualified candidates will receive occupational therapy screening, evaluation, intervention, and recommendations. In 2018, the services will expand to include the adult neurologically impaired population in the Delaware communities.
All services will be provided on site at the Wesley College Department of Occupational Therapy at Johnston Hall Health Sciences 300 South New Street, Dover, DE 19901. A review process is required to determine eligibility. For more information contact Dr. Varleisha Gibbs, at varleisha.gibbs@wesley.edu or 302.736.2321.
