Make-A-Wish Delaware held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the CDCC on Friday, June 15. The event, which celebrated the organization’s joining the Chamber, was attended by several of its volunteers and Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen.

Make-A-Wish Delaware is a nonprofit that grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses while striving to touch the lives of all eligible children and their families in the state of Delaware. A wish is not just a nice thing but is transformational to all who are involved. Studies have proven that a wish can give the child the hope and strength needed to continue through their treatments. The organization allows children, during one of the most difficult times of their lives, to wish for anything in the world-even if they think it is impossible, and make it possible. Make-A-Wish gives that child and family hope that the impossible can happen and the strength to fight through until it does.

Make-A-Wish Delaware was established, under the Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley chapter’s umbrella, when the need for wishes to be granted to children in Delaware was not being met. The state of Delaware joined the chapter’s family in an effort to grant every eligible Delaware child’s wish.

Upcoming events include a wine and food tasting called Savor the Wish on Saturday, August 18 at Nassau Valley Vineyards in Lewes. On Sunday, November 4, the Chapter will host Walk for Wishes Delaware at Nemours Mansion and Gardens. Make-A-Wish Delaware has also partnered with the Guilty Girls as their 2018 charity partner, and will be the beneficiary of the Delaware Dental Association’s annual golf outing in October.

“Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley is thrilled to have the entire state of Delaware in its Chapter family and to grant wishes to children residing throughout the state,” said Michelle Wall, Community Relations Manager. “The Chapter is on track to grant 65 wishes to children in Delaware this year.”
