Maddalena’s Sandwich Shop & Bakery celebrated its grand opening with a CDCC ribbon cutting on Wednesday, July 18. The new restaurant, located on Route 13 in Dover, is an expansion of Vincenzo’s Pizzeria & Gelato on Route 8.

The new shop was inspired from customers of Vincenzo’s asking for more Italian pastries and desserts. Owners Vincenzo and Katie Maddalena decided they wanted to create a space to accommodate these requests, as well as offer top quality, unique gourmet sandwiches.

Maddalena’s offers seating for up to 50 people, so the shop can accommodate large groups interested in a private event. To-go catering services are also available to suit everybody’s needs. Choose from sandwich platters (gourmet sandwiches, wraps, specialty breads, and subs), variety dessert trays (which can include cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cannoli, pies, etc.) or breakfast trays (to include fresh bagels, Danish, donuts, and breakfast sandwiches).

The owners are proud to be residents and business owners in Central Delaware and they make that clear by sponsoring local sports teams and churches. Fundraising nights are also available at both the sandwich shop and the pizzeria.

“Our favorite part about being located in Central Delaware is that we have the best of both worlds,” said co-owner Katie Maddalena. “Just north of us we have top area hospitals, great malls and the city life and just south of us we have access to beautiful beaches and great shopping. Central Delaware includes a strong, close-knit community which we are both proud and blessed to be a part of.”

Check out Maddalena’s Sandwich Shop and Bakery for its Italian desserts such as cannoli, Cannoli cake, Rum cake, Tiramisu, Lemoncello cake and the Tuxedo Bomba. Also available are Smith Island Cakes, Gourmet filled cupcakes, fresh Danish, individual cakes (3 inches), specialty cakes (Carrot cake, German Chocolate, Black Forest, Strawberry Shortcake, etc.), decorated cakes, and a large selection of pies. To ensure quality and freshness, breads are delivered daily from Rockland Bakery in New York, and meats are sliced to order which contain no artificial ingredients, preservatives, or fillers.
