Residents of Noble’s Pond (www.noblespondhomes.com ), Delaware’s premier 55+ Active Adult Community, recently came together for the seventh year to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and have fun at the same time. Girls’ Night Out to Fight MS brought together Noble’s Pond residents, members of the Dover community and friends for a light-hearted “Pocketbook Bingo” competition, with entry fees and additional monies raised donated to fight MS. The event was held at The Pointe, the community’s clubhouse, and raised over $16,500.
The event is the brainchild of Noble’s Pond Lifestyle Director Colleen Ostafy, whose adult daughter is successfully living with MS. Participants paid $20 to play “Pocketbook Bingo” and the winner of each of nine games received a designer handbag. The event also included entertainment by a DJ, food, cocktails, a silent auction and raffles. Food, prizes and merchandise were generously donated by generous sponsors.
“When my own daughter was diagnosed, I learned that about three quarters of those with Multiple Sclerosis are women. I started thinking of a fun way to raise money to fund MS research, and came up with the idea of Pocketbook Bingo. Noble’s Pond residents and employees jumped on board and each year they have made the fundraiser bigger, better and more successful. In fact, we’ve raised nearly $100,000 over the years to support research, medication and wheelchairs/scooters for those whose mobility is compromised by MS. I’m thrilled another very successful evening of Pocketbook Bingo is ‘in the bag’, so to speak!’
Noble’s Pond homeowners reach out to the larger community in a variety of ways throughout the year. At Christmastime, they hold an annual Toys for Tots drive and visit residents of a Dover nursing home, bearing gifts and singing carols. They also cook for residents of a local shelter and participate in an annual MS walk.
With its classic Americana streetscape and location minutes from downtown Dover, award-winning Noble’s Pond has become one of the most sought-after communities of its type. Residents live in low-maintenance, single-family homes. All-new floor plans deliver sleek kitchens, deluxe master suites, easy-living features and plenty of room for overnights with the grandchildren. The favorable Delaware tax climate makes the community a draw for people from across the country. For more information and virtual tours, visit www.noblespondhomes.com .
