First Saturday: Celebrating Delaware Agriculture
Join the Heritage Park for the monthly First Saturday in the First State program. The many partners provide special thematic programming that changes each month.

First Saturday – April 7: Delaware Agriculture

Biggs Kids: Popsicle Barn 
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
Biggs Museum 
Celebrate Delaware’s agricultural history by making a Popsicle stick barn. Don’t forget to try the monthly scavenger hunt through the museum. 

From Woods to Farm: How to Survive in the American Colonies
9:30, 10:30, 11:30 a.m., 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4 p.m. 
John Bell House 
Learn how primitive survival skills lead to establish agriculture and society, and learn how the early American Colonists learned to survive in the New World. Primitive Skills expert Jeff Moore will be on hand to teach primitive survival skills.

Prohibition in the First State
9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
The Old State House 
Tours will examine the ratification of the 18th Amendment, its enforcement, its impacts on Delawareans, and its eventual repeal through the ratification of the 21st Amendment.

Songwriting: Poetry through Music
9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 
Johnson Victrola Museum
In celebration of National Poetry Month, guided tours will highlight the great songwriters of the Victor Talking Machine Company. Hear their music on authentic talking machines.

The History of Delaware Forests 
10:30 a.m. 
Delaware Public Archives
Dr. Robert Tjaden will share stories and photos captured on his Delaware Forest Oral History Project.

The Once and Future Courthouse
1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. Kent County Courthouse, 38 The Green
From the 1690s to the present, learn how this building went from a courthouse to a hotel and back again.
