Dover, DE
06/02/2021 04:28 PM

During the week of June 7th thru June 12th, Central Dover residents and volunteers will come together during a series of events planned by NCALL’s Restoring Central Dover team. This weeklong celebration of neighborhood revitalization activities is nationally recognized as NeighborWorks Week.

NCALL (National Council on Agricultural Life & Labor Research Fund, Inc.) along with other NeighborWorks organizations across the country will highlight neighborhood change and awareness and host several events that educate, train and enlighten. NeighborWorks Week #NWweek (June 5-12) events demonstrate the value of neighbors helping neighbors. The week will include several virtual events including a healthy cooking demonstration, Zumba, gardening demonstration, kids crafts, paint night and more! The team will conclude the week with a celebratory community picnic on Saturday June 12th at 11AM, which will include the announcement of their Tik Tok Showcase; Beautify your Yard Winners and Celebration of Community 2021 graduates of all ages.

"NeighborWorks Week is an opportunity to celebrate the recent progress in Central Dover and also a time to promote positive change, awareness and education," stated NCALL Executive Director, Karen Speakman.

Adopted in 2014, Restoring Central Dover is a Comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization Plan in motion. The Plan and its implementation are led by NCALL and a Steering Committee. The Plan represents our community’s vision for restoring the vitality of Central Dover and lists recommendations for implementation. Resident input and priorities have been derived from a community survey, meetings, events, activities, and community outreach. The Plan offers a multitude of strategies for a Strong Community, Positive Development, and an Integrated Public Realm and Infrastructure.

NCALL is part of the national NeighborWorks network, an affiliation of nearly 250 nonprofit organizations located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In fiscal year 2020, the NeighborWorks network provided more than 438,600 housing and counseling services; owned and managed 179,900 rental homes; and created 43,810 jobs. The NeighborWorks network was founded and is supported by NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities.
