The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Fur Baby Pet Resort on May 1st at 11 am.  The ceremony was held at their location, 301 NE Front Street in Milford. Chamber members, friends, and staff members joined owner, Sherry Shupe, and the team at Fur Baby as they celebrated their 10th Anniversary and the Grand Opening of their new facility!

Servicing Delaware since 2011, Fur Baby is Milford's #1 pet boutique, day care, hotel, and spa. The mission at Fur Baby Pet Resort is to create an environment in which pet parents can gather to strengthen their bond with their pets.  With a commitment to the highest standards of care for their daycare, hotel and spa guests and their team of dedicated animal professionals, they strive to offer superior services and products.

Recognizing the evolving landscape of the pet industry, the experts at Fur Baby Pet Resort have expanded their boutique to include holistic services such as doggie daycare, overnight hotel, spa grooming and grocery. In 2021, Fur Baby Pet Resort opened a 10,000 square foot facility. The business was instrumental in the rehabilitation of the riverfront property in Downtown Milford that had been abandoned for over 20 years. The land, now known as the Mispillion Gateway, leads into Milford's Downtown Development District and hosts two growing businesses.

Upon relocation to Delaware from Annapolis, Maryland, owner Sherry Shupe chose Milford because of its strong sense of community. Over the years, the team at Fur Baby has enjoyed that same support and has seen it strengthen their business as they have expanded their space, services, and team, not just once – but three times! As they searched for a permanent location for Fur Baby, they decided to make an investment back into their community by revitalizing a property that had been empty and in disrepair for 20 years. Already, in their first two months in the new location, they have continued to receive an outpouring of community support for their business and their team.

Owned and operated by dedicated animal lovers, the experts at Fur Baby strive to offer nothing but the best service and products for clients and their "Fur Babies!" The folks at Fur Baby offer Doggie Daycare, 7 days per week in 10,000 square feet – this space includes indoor and outdoor playrooms! They also operate an overnight hotel, featuring oversized rooms, gourmet menus, and specialized care. In addition, Fur Baby Pet Resort’s Sap Grooming is Delaware’s only American Kennel Club safety certified salon with professionally trained groomers. Their Specialty Boutique offers human grade, local, and eco-friendly items for pets and their owners. And the Grocery Division at Fur Baby Pet Resort features biologically appropriate nutrition for cats and dogs.

Fur Baby Pet Resort is proud to be a part of the Central Delaware Community.  They have enjoyed finding ways to give back and serve their community by participating in events, fundraisers, and volunteering in organizations like Downtown Milford, Inc., The Greater Boys and Girls Club, and Brandywine SPCA. They also partner with local veterinarians to provide opportunities for low-cost wellness visits through onsite clinics, as well as encouraging fostering and adopting, both on site and locally at rescues and shelters. In their new location on the gateway to Downtown Milford, their hope is to serve the community in a larger role by inviting local organizations and businesses to partner with them to promote positive causes.
