Jerry’s Paving teamed up with asphalt supplier Allan Myers to totally repave the parking lot and basketball court at KSI Kamp Lenape in Felton-all their materials and efforts being generously donated. Thanks to the companies’ efforts, the site that offers children with disabilities opportunities for summer programs full of fun and skills reinforcement is now more ready to accommodate a variety of additional uses year-round.
KSI’s past Vice President Ann Haggerty was the driving force behind KSI’s acquisition of Kamp Lenape in early 2023 before her passing later that spring. She approached Jerry’s Paving owner Jerry Kovach with the idea of donating paving of the parking lot and sports court to support the camp’s cause. Mr. Kovach was more than open to the donation and saw the project as part of his civic duty. “The good Lord has been good to me. So you have to pass it along,” said Mr. Kovach. “We have to give back to the community.”
Jerry’s Paving provided approximately $20,000 in labor and equipment time to greatly expand the parking area at the camp site, as well as create a uniform surface for the ball court. According to Pennsylvania-based Allan Myers’s Sales Manager Michael Gygrynuk, his company brought in more than $12,000 in materials from their Dover location to facilitate the project.
