The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce (CDCC) hosted a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony with NeighborGood Partners and Delaware State University on Monday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. The event was held at 223 W. Division Street in Dover. Chamber members, stakeholders and friends joined NeighborGood Partners and DSU’s School of Business to celebrate the opening of their new building, the “NeighborGood Center” located at the corner of N. New and W. Division Streets.

The folks at NeighborGood Partners are excited to announce the grand opening of the NeighborGood Center, a stunning new anchor in downtown Dover. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as the new home for the Restoring Central Dover program staff, providing them with a dedicated space to engage and serve the residents of our community. In addition to housing the Restoring Central Dover initiative, they are thrilled to welcome Delaware State University’s School of Business to the NeighborGood Center. The university will occupy the second floor, offering training and support for community entrepreneurial opportunities, further enhancing the resources available to the area residents.

The core of NeighborGood Partners and the work of Restoring Central Dover is to strengthen communities-this is done by dedicated work to bridge the gap to vital resources such as affordable housing, entrepreneurial opportunities, volunteerism, opioid outreach, community engagement, safety, public health, and financial education.

Beyond the new building, Restoring Central Dover’s efforts include The Hub: a Community Resource Center, and The Scoop on Loockerman, an ice cream shop -- two resources that are available to the community.

The Restoring Central Dover initiative was adopted in 2014, which is a Comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization Plan in motion. Resident input and priorities for the Restoring Central Dover Plan were derived from a community survey, meetings, events, activities, and community outreach. NeighborGood Partners’ Restoring Central Dover initiative offers a multitude of strategies for a Strong Community, Positive Development, and Quality of Life.

NeighborGood Partners has been a nonprofit pillar in the community for many years. They are well known for their consumer services and have assisted over 10,000 households in becoming homeowners, 1,800 households in saving their homes from foreclosure, and 13,000 households provided with financial literacy training or coaching.
