Dover, DE – Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware announced that NCALL is included as one of the recipients of its social determinants of health grant cycle through its donor-advised fund, BluePrints for the Community.
This funding will provide outreach and education about opioid addiction and recovery to the residents of Central Dover and the Dover Housing Authority neighborhoods of Manchester Square, Derby Court and Willis Road.
"This will help us to encourage residents to make healthy choices and expand our Opioid Outreach services, which continue to be much needed in Dover," said NCALL Executive Director, Karen Speakman. "We will continue to work with Central Dover residents and now will be able to include residents of several Dover Housing Authority neighborhoods."
Funding was originally set at $1 million. In response to the continuously growing needs that existed prior to, but have been exacerbated by the pandemic, Highmark Delaware decided to increase the amount. In accordance with the volume and quality of the projects and programs proposals received, the total is more than $1.9 million.
