Judge William L. Witham, Jr. will speak to the Dover Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America at their dinner meeting on January 20 at Roma Italian Ristorante, 3 Presidents Drive, Dover DE. Social hour begins at 5, dinner at 6, speaker to follow. Dinner choices are chicken Cacciatore, Roasted Salmon, Roma Steak, or Manicotti.

Witham joined the court as an associate judge in February 1999 and was appointed resident judge in January 2005, retiring from the court on May 14, 2021. He brought the idea of Veterans Court to Delaware where it has been extremely successful. Though retired, Witham will continue to assist on Veterans Court matters.

In lieu of normal business, Commissioner Ron Sarg will brief the group on legislative actions the Delaware Veterans Commission wishes to see enacted. Initiatives include: passing a bill to eliminate state tax on military retired pay, something 33 other States already do which hinders Delaware’s ability to attract young, healthy, hardworking veterans to our State; assigning more funds to the Delaware Veterans Home to create a safe indoor visitation space and attract and retain staff; a parking initiative for disabled vets; an addition to the Delaware driver’s license to allow for easy identification of honorably discharged veterans.

Active duty, prior service, retired, National Guard, Reserve, USPHS, NOAA, Coast Guard and other Commissioned and/or Warrant Officers of the U.S. Uniformed Services, their spouses and guests are welcome to attend.

Visit www.dovermoaa.org to learn more about the organization. Call LCDR Tom Smith USN (Ret.) at 301 904 0228 if you wish to attend.
