Central DE Habitat for Humanity Presents Dover
Federal Credit Union with the ‘Sponsor of the Year Award’
Dover, DE— Many years ago, a relationship between a longstanding
nonprofit and a credit union dedicated to making real change within their
community was formed. Throughout the years, Dover Federal Credit Union’s partnership
with the Central DE Habitat for Humanity strengthened through the involvement
in volunteering opportunities and support for the robust activities.
On January 24th, that relationship strengthened
when the CDHFH honored Dover Federal with a ‘Sponsor of the Year Award’ for
their consistent support throughout 2021. "Dover Federal Credit Union has
made an impact in Kent County by supporting CDHFH's mission to provide
affordable homeownership and neighborhood revitalization opportunities to those
in our community. We are so grateful to have them be a part of our family
because we could not do what we do without them!" - Dylan Grimes,
Development Director for the Central DE Habitat for Humanity.
“The past year was remarkably difficult with massive strains
in the construction supply chain, increased land values, price increases, and
staff shortages. Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity is tasked each year to
provide affordable homeownership opportunities to low-income individuals and
families despite losses of at least $25k on each home we build. The pandemic
not only made this work more challenging, it also increased the number of
people needing relief from our programs. The generous support of Dover Federal
Credit Union in 2021 allowed us to acquire three new properties to develop,
start construction on three new sites on S. Queen Street, and retain 100% of
our staff. While we saw a substantial decrease in corporate gifts in 2021,
Dover Federal increased their support. We have sincerely appreciated their
partnership over the last several years but the support offered last year is
most remarkable. Thank you Dover Federal Credit Union for your love of our
community and appreciation of our work. You are helping us change lives and in
turn, change Kent County.” – Tim Bailey, Executive Director for the Central DE
Habitat for Humanity.
As a firm believer in the philosophy of “People Helping
People,” Dover Federal is committed to helping communities get there and they
look forward to making an even bigger impact on their neighboring communities in
the coming years. When speaking of the
award, Tyler Kuhn, Dover Federal’s VP of Marketing and Digital Experience said,
“It is a no brainer for us to support Central DE Habitat for Humanity. There is
nothing that breaks the cycle of poverty like home-ownership and we are honored
to be a small part of getting a deserving family into a home.”
