Workshop for Professionals Working with the Office of the Recorder of Deeds

The Honorable Eugenia Thornton, Kent County Recorder of Deeds, will host a
workshop exclusively for real estate attorneys, title searchers, and paralegals at Roma Italian Ristorante, 3
President’s Way, Dover on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., with social time
afterwards.
Topics for discussion include: 1) proper formatting of real estate transfer and mortgage documents to
reduce nonconforming and rejected documents to speeding up the recording process without losing
accuracy, 2) a new tax form required by the State of Delaware, 3) a new way to notate recorded
documents that have been rescanned, 4) a new note to searchers about indexing conventions to make
searching easier.
Also planned for discussion: 5) a new way to make processing of credit cards faster and easier for those
accessing Deeds software remotely, 6) a new way to access Transfer Tax information from our website,
and finally, 7) what Kent County Deeds office is doing about keeping property owners safer from Title
Fraud.
