Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Harvest Ridge Winery celebrating their 10-year anniversary and 30+ medals won this year
The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce (CDCC) hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Harvest Ridge Winery on Wednesday, October 18th, at 4pm. The event was held at 447 Westville Road in Marydel. Chamber members and friends joined owner, Chuck Nunan, and the Harvest Ridge Winery team to celebrate their 10-year anniversary and 30+ medals won this year at international wine competitions!
Harvest Ridge Winery (HRW) has been a Central Delaware gem for a decade! “Family comes first” is the philosophy for this small business. The theme of family is woven through every sip, bottle, vine, and customer experience. The HRW logo is a great example of this by the prominent roots to reflect the deep lineage of the founding Nunan family. Chuck Nunan, founder, began making wine in his basement in 1995 with great success. He was inspired by a trip to South Carolina to take his love of wine and winemaking to the next level. This led to the purchase of Marydel land, originally named Harvest Ridge, which has been officially serving Central Delaware, Maryland, and surrounding areas for 10 years now. In that time, the opening of a second location in Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania began serving the area as well. The winery is thriving under leadership of son, Chuck Nunan, Director of Operations.
“We have over 20 wines on our wine list covering every pallet. From dry red drinkers with our award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon to our infamous Blue Hen Blue! Wineries can be intimidating to some people, so we strive to give every customer the Harvest Ridge experience as soon as they walk through the door,” shared Alexis Nunan, Delaware Tasting Room Manager & Sales Director.
HRW’s Marydel location is known for its quality, award-winning, local, wine and fun events surrounding them. They offer a variety of reds, whites, sweets, sangrias, and Rebel Seed Ciders to please any palate. Customers can shop their wines online, as well as receiving via shipping to surrounding states. Shopper can complete their shopping complete with a custom wine label for any event or occasion. Locals can find many of their wines on shelves at local and big chain alcohol retailers as well as in bars and restaurants.
In addition to quality winemaking, HRW draws crowds to their beautifully spacious Marydel Tasting Room and Vineyard facility with events like bingo, live music, Oktoberfest Pairing, Rebel Seed Cider Fest, Craft Classes, Wine Club Exclusive Pick-Up Parties, and Annual Food Truck Competition (April 14 & 15, 2023). HRW has been a meeting place for girls’ and guys’ nights, a wedding venue, lunch & dinner spot, a place to relax, and a chance to get away from it all in the peaceful outskirts of Delaware/Maryland Amish country.
HRW is passionate about giving back and supporting the local community in many ways. “We are very active in giving back to our local veteran community and are community partners with First Sergeants on DAFB. Our largest event of the year is our Food truck Competition which helps support our local DAV Chapter and Hero Hunts Foundation. We can never say thank you enough to our military, but every little bit helps!” Alexis Nunan continued. The CDCC is proud to have HRW serving and giving back to the Central Delaware community for 10 years and many more!
