CDCC Joins Bayhealth for a Ribbon Cutting for their newly remodeled spaces and new services at the Bayhealth at Blue Hen
The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce (CDCC) hosted a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Bayhealth’s newly remodeled spaces and new services at the Bayhealth at Blue Hen Medical Center Facility on Wednesday, Dec. 9th outside of Unit C at 665 N. Bay Road, Dover. Chamber members and friends joined Michael Ashton, Vice President or Operations and Administrator for the Bayhealth Sussex Campus, and the Bayhealth team after the ribbon cutting for light refreshments and a tour of the facility.
This remodeled space includes the new Bayhealth Walk-in Medical Care, Blue Hen and Bayhealth Outpatient Center, Blue Hen and Bayhealth Occupational Health, Bayhealth Outpatient Rehabilitation (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy), as well as various Bayhealth Medical Group practices for primary care, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and pulmonology. The Bayhealth Neurology practice has also moved to the new space from its previous Dover locations.
Bayhealth has had a presence at the Blue Hen Corporate Center since 2003. With a goal of improved access and one-stop availability of services in mind, Bayhealth invested in securing and repurposing additional spaces at the Blue Hen site to reimagine them as a central location for health care services for the people of Kent County.
Bayhealth has been a part of our community since 1927 when Kent General Hospital in Dover first opened. It has continuously grown and evolved over the years to best meet the needs of their communities. Bayhealth provides a range of comprehensive medical care and services at our two hospital campuses, many satellite facilities offering emergency and urgent care, walk-in care, diagnostic imaging and testing, laboratory, outpatient rehabilitation and other services, and employed physician practices encompassing a variety of specialties.
Bayhealth has a strong commitment to serving the communities in central and southern Delaware. In Fiscal Year 2023, Bayhealth recorded 107,911 emergency department visits, 18,022 patients admitted to beds, 2,545 births, and provided more than $12 million in unreimbursed care to patients. Beyond the medical care they provide, their community outreach efforts meet neighbors where they are throughout Kent and Sussex counties. Through their mobile health unit and many community activities and sponsorships, they offer health screenings, health education opportunities, and work alongside community organizations to address gaps in care and health disparities.
