FFA Blue Jacket Bonanza applications due by Jan. 17
For FFA members, the blue corduroy jacket adorned with their name and the FFA emblem is more than just apparel-it’s a symbol of leadership, career development, and the values instilled by the organization.
Thanks to Delaware Farm Bureau and a $1,000 donation from Horizon Farm Credit, more students will have the chance to own their very own blue jacket through the Blue Jacket Bonanza program.
Since 2015, DEFB has proudly provided over 520 jackets to deserving Delaware FFA members. Alexis Langenfelder, DEFB’s Agricultural Literacy and Program Coordinator, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative, “this program is so special, and I am thrilled to be a part of it,” she said. “I remember the pride and joy I felt wearing my own blue jacket, and I’m so excited to see this year’s recipients experience that same feeling.”
Delaware FFA members can apply for the Blue Jacket Bonanza at defb.org/blue-jacket-bonanza/. Recipients are selected based on community service involvement, leadership skills, and dedication to FFA. Jackets are awarded on a one-time basis.
Applications and advisor recommendations must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 17th. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a high school FFA program and be a student in good standing.
In addition to the application, students must provide their jacket size using the National FFA jacket ordering guidelines.
Blue jackets will be presented on March 25, 2025, during the Delaware FFA Convention at the University of Delaware.
Alexiana Hay, a student at Lake Forest High School, received her blue jacket at last year’s convention.
“Receiving this jacket has meant so much to me,” she said. “Having my own jacket, earned through my accomplishments, is a privilege. It symbolizes all the hard work and dedication I’ve put in, and I wear it with pride knowing what it stands for.”
Olivia Tribbett, a Milford High School student and fellow recipient, agreed, adding that all FFA members should experience the feeling of wearing a blue jacket with their name on it. She said, “going up on stage after receiving my jacket with all the other members who also earned their jacket was an amazing experience.”
“The Blue Jacket Bonanza is a great opportunity for any member who wants to participate in conventions and events to earn their jacket; not only do you receive a jacket, but you can wear it knowing you have earned it,” Tribbett said.
Applications for the 2025 Blue Jacket Bonanza are due by 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 17 and can be completed online at defb.org/blue-jacket-bonanza/. For questions regarding Blue Jacket Bonanza, contact Alexis Langenfelder at Alexis.Langenfelder@defb.org or (302) 697-3183.
