Labor Day Weekend - DelDOT Suspends Lane Closures on Major Roadways
Dover, DE
08/25/2017 09:32 AM
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will suspend planned lane closures on major roadways and resort area routes at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, August 31 until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5.  Emergency lane closures may still occur at any time.  The suspension will minimize delays on these roadways due to increased travel for the holiday weekend.

DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) monitors and adjusts traffic signals for heavy congestion or incidents.  Motorists can contact the TMC (24/7) at the following numbers:  Dial #77 from any cell phone in Delaware; and (302) 659-4600 or 1-800-324-8379.

We urge motorists to use DelDOT’s App on their tablets and smart phones to plan their routes before leaving. The app can be downloaded free at the Apple and Google Play stores or go to www.DelDOT.gov   and click on the link to stores.

The E-ZPass Express Lanes are open at I-95 Newark Toll Plaza; Biddles Toll Plaza on DE 1; and Dover Plaza on DE 1, as well as most of the other cash toll booth lanes at the plazas.  Motorists are reminded to slow down when approaching the toll plazas, to ensure the safety of our toll collectors.

Motorists can obtain an E-ZPass account online at www.ezpassde.com   and click on “Get E-ZPass.”  Customers can also register for an E-ZPass account in person at any Toll Plaza Customer Service Center 24 hours a day or call 1-888-397-2773 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Travelers may stop at the I-95 Welcome Center located between Exits 1 and 3 along I-95 in Newark or at the Smyrna Rest Area/Exit 119 on DE 1.
