Delaware has ranked second in the country for small business friendliness, according to a survey conducted by Thumbtack, the web and app company that connects companies with business talent across the United States. U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) recently visited Thumbtack and discussed the study’s findings, which gave Delaware high marks for employment, labor and hiring regulations, licensing regulations, tax regulations, training and networking program, government web sites. On overall small business friendliness, Delaware earned an impressive A+.

“There’s no question that Delaware is a great place to live, work and do business,” said Senator Carper. “With our first-class workforce, proximity to I-95, international airports and major cities, as well as our tax-free shopping, Fortune 500 businesses, responsive state and local government, and great communities, Delaware is an attractive place to grow a business and raise a family. This is something we in the First State have known for a long time, but I’m thrilled Thumbtack has highlighted just how much we have to offer.”

The 2017 Small Business Friendliness Survey is the largest continuous study of small business perceptions of government policy in the United States. Thumbtack surveyed more than 13,000 small business owners in 50 states and 80 cities to evaluate how easy local governments make it to start, operate and grow a small business.

Recently, Delaware launched its campaign, Options in DE, to show that Delaware is an attractive place for businesses to grow and create good-paying jobs.
