On Thursday, June 14 the CDCC held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony for Central Delaware’s newest medical facility, The Center at Eden Hill. The open house event was attended by hundreds of people - including Governor John Carney and Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen.

“Our open house was a long-awaited milestone in the creation of The Center at Eden Hill,” said Sean Mace, President of The Center at Eden Mill Medical Center. “I’m very proud and humbled by the amazing turn out from not just the local community but the entire State and many out of state attendees.”

The state-of-the-art, 65,000 square foot medical facility is currently accepting patients. Resort-like accommodations complete with private rooms and private baths is what distinguishes this rehabilitation hospital from others in Delaware. Patients are made to feel at-home with gourmet meals, a salon, and top-notch nurses and therapists working to create well-rounded, individualized programs. The goal of each program is for the patient to transition to his/her highest functional level.

“A great deal of thought was put into making this a unique and functional building, one with a very specific purpose - to rehabilitate those in need and return them home stronger and safer than when they arrived,” explained Mace. “Our vision was to accomplish this in more of a hotel-type atmosphere versus a traditional skilled nursing facility.”

The Center at Eden Hill will be equipped to handle many conditions, including: Congestive heart failure, recovery from heart attack or stroke, pneumonia, paraplegia, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s dementia. Healthcare providers at the facility will specialize in patients that require oxygen, frequent monitoring, have breathing tubes, feeding tubes, have limited mobility or have large wounds.

“I truly appreciate all who helped us celebrate this beautiful facility and especially thank the Centers’ staff, 33 West for catering, and many vendors for their help in making this a huge success,” said Mace.
