On October 1, 2017, Mandy Talley-Kaufman (pictured on the left with her “best boy,” Darth) assumed full ownership of The Kritter Sitter, one of Delaware’s largest and most well-established pet sitting businesses. Karen Kaufman (pictured on the right), who founded the business in 2007, retired and relinquished the business to Talley-Kaufman, who had been with The Kritter Sitter since its inception and co-owner with Kaufman since 2015.
Talley-Kaufman said, “In just ten years The Kritter Sitter has grown from a one-person, part-time pet sitting venture to a thriving small business which serves pet clients throughout the state and employs multiple sitters. I’m grateful to Karen, whose vision and dedication brought The Kritter Sitter so far” Kaufman noted, “I firmly believe that in order to evolve, one must continually improve and adapt. It was time for me to travel a different path, placing the company’s future in the hands of those capable of taking it to the next level. I have great confidence that my wife, Mandy, and our Business Administrator, Deb Farley-Blunt, will do just that.”
Talley-Kaufman assured clients that The Kritter Sitter remains committed to providing clients’ best friends the best possible care in the best possible place - the pets’ own homes - even as she continues to grow the business. “Together with our great Administrator and our wonderful pet sitters, I look forward to building on The Kritter Sitter's prior success, further developing the business and continuing to provide the outstanding service that is our hallmark.”
Talley-Kaufman, originally from Washington State, made her way to Delaware via the United States Air Force. Before joining The Kritter Sitter full-time she worked as a facilities manager, office manager, and practice administrator for several medical practices in Maryland and Delaware. Talley-Kaufman said, “Kritter Sitter wonderfully combines my love of animals and my business skills - it's a perfect fit!”
