S. Frederica Grade-Separated Interchange to Open
Dover, DE
07/10/2018 02:30 PM
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that the grade-separated intersection between Frederica Road (Route 12) and Route 1 will open as of Tuesday, July 10.

Simultaneously, the existing at-grade intersections at Milford Neck Road and Route 1, Tub Mill Pond Road and Route 1, and the associated Route 1 crossover will be permanently closed.

Further, the permanent entrance to the DE Turf Complex on Milford Neck Road will be open, and the temporary entrance to the complex from Route 1 northbound will be permanently closed. All traffic to the complex must use the newly constructed interchange.

DelDOT has variable message boards in place to help traffic adjust to new patterns and assist in directing event related traffic to the DE Turf Complex.

The $18 million project broke ground in March 2016. While the interchange will be open to traffic, the project’s contractor, Newark-based A-Del Construction, will continue work on a tie-in between the new Milford Neck Road and the existing Milford Neck Road. Additionally, the existing crossovers on Route 1 will be permanently removed and final paving on side roads, ramps, and Route 1 will continue, along with the placement of permanent signage.

The entire project is expected to be finished by late summer, and a formal event will be held to mark the completion of the project.
