The CDCC was on site at Nurse Next Door for a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 31. The event was a celebration of the business’s fifth anniversary.

According to a 2012 United States Aging Survey, 90% of aging Americans want to age in place. Because of its license level, Nurse Next Door has the unique ability to keep people happy at home by providing customized care for the whole person (personal care, companion care, transportation/errands, and nursing care).

“What nurse doesn’t want to make lives better?!”, co-owner Tiffany Rubin explains her impetus for opening the franchise. “I was frustrated at not having time to truly educate my clients and their families or provide more holistically focused care in a traditional setting, and home care gave me the opportunity to do that.”

Rubin notes that the success of the last five years can be contributed to having the right people in the right places. The team credits Phyllis McCollum from First State Community Loan Fund and Al Paoli from the Small Business Development Center for helping with the business launch. Business associates like Tammy Ordway of Faw Casson, Larry Lewis of BBSI, Adrienne Hawes of WSFS, and Lynne Schaefer of DFCU “were and are crucial” to keeping Nurse Next Door running on the backend. And the core HeartTeam, led by Executive Director Allison Brooks, is instrumental in keeping all those parts, along with the right clients, referral sources and employees, together at a high level.

The future will see a continued focus on happier aging with increased Passionista (direct-care worker) training tailored to dementia and Alzheimer’s care, palliative care and holistic care. Nurse Next Door plans to continue to expand its skilled and non-medical care throughout communities in the State.
