2021 Broadwalk on or off the Boardwalk
Rehoboth Beach, DE
04/27/2021 11:38 PM

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) and CAMP Rehoboth successfully held the 2021 Broadwalk on or off the Boardwalk on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

The Broadwalk on the Boardwalk is a free event, organized and originally created by Kathy Wiz in honor of her sister’s battle with breast cancer. Broadwalk has historically wrapped up the CAMP Rehoboth Women’s Fest weekend. Each year Broadwalk on the Boardwalk draws hundreds to the Rehoboth boardwalk to come to CAMP Rehoboth, enjoy music, comradery, and fun before the walk began. Then we would walk together to the south end of the Rehoboth boardwalk, stopping for pictures at the Green Turtle. At the end we would move to the beach to create a human circle of love enveloping the survivors we are celebrating in the center of the circle. This year we asked people to walk on their own, take pictures and share them on Facebook. People came to CAMP Rehoboth, bought our signature boas for a donation and took them on their walk. We had newly diagnosed survivors with their supporters, as well as breast cancer survivors who were many years into their survivorship. Overall, it was a beautiful day where we enjoyed seeing people in masks and chatting with small groups who come to celebrate with us all morning.

During these trying times, your help is needed more than ever. If you did not get a chance to participate in person, or drop off a donation you can still support the event by making a donation here: https://dbcc.ejoinme.org/Broadwalk

All proceeds from the 2021 Broadwalk on the Boardwalk benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s (DBCC) programs that increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to men and women in our local community who are newly diagnosed or facing recurrence of breast cancer. About Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is a 501(c) (3) organization offering statewide programs and services. The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Inc. empowers our community by raising awareness of breast health issues through survivorship support services, outreach and education, in order to facilitate the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Its vision is to create a community where every person diagnosed with breast cancer is a survivor, and fear and doubt are replaced with knowledge and hope. The DBCC also supports the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s advocacy efforts to end breast cancer.

Headquartered in Wilmington with offices in Kent and Sussex Counties, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s programs reach diverse communities to deliver messages that address their unique concerns about breast cancer and early detection. Recognizing the barriers of language, culture, and economics, DBCC trains community advocates through their Peer Mentor Program, as well as works to help educate and encourage women and men to take responsibility for their health through breast health presentations and community health fairs. In addition, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition helps those with low incomes and those with little or no insurance receive free or reduced-cost care.
