DO MORE 24 DELAWARE GIVING DAY RETURNS
Dover, DE
11/03/2021 09:12 AM
United Way of Delaware and Spur Impact today announced that Do More 24 Delaware, the state’s premier 24-hour charitable giving event, will be held from 6 p.m. March 3 to 6 p.m. March 4, 2022.
Organized jointly by United Way of Delaware and Spur Impact, last year’s event saw more than 10,000 individual donations benefitting 412 participating nonprofits statewide. Do More 24 Delaware raised nearly $2 million, totaling more than every previous year combined.
Throughout the 24-hour fundraising marathon, donors will be able to support their favorite Delaware nonprofits by donating through their individual fundraising pages on the DoMore24Delaware.org website. Each hour of the event will offer various cash prize awards to nonprofits based on different fundraising metrics, and all nonprofits that raise money will share in one of the event's stretch pools.
United Way of Delaware Chief Operations Officer Dan Cruce said, “We look forward to another highly successful event to provide support for Delaware’s nonprofits that contribute so much to the wellbeing of our communities. Last year’s amazing results demonstrated that their work is valued by thousands of donors statewide. Continued support is vitally needed by the hard-working organizations who are on the front lines changing lives and building communities every day.”
Charlie Vincent, Executive Director of Spur Impact Association, added, “As the pandemic continues to shift how services are delivered and how nonprofits operate, it is important to remember that nonprofits rely heavily on the support of individual donors. We are proud that so many Delaware nonprofits have activated their donors and supporters-particularly younger board members and donors-around this great event. With effectively 1% of the Delaware population donating last year, we hope that even more Delawareans will support and donate to their favorite nonprofits as part of this year's giving day.”
All 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving Delaware are eligible and encouraged to participate in the March 2022 event. Over the next three months, the planning committee will be holding training and other workshops to help participating organizations with marketing and other fundraising efforts. “The event’s exponential growth shows how much people in our community support what we’re doing and how much these nonprofits mean,” said Ryan Hunter, Founder and Executive Director of Blue Demon Athletics.
OperaDelaware General Director Brendan Cooke added, “When you give our community a chance to participate in the things they care about, they show up.”
In 2021, the event's largest supporters included the Delaware Division of the Arts, Longwood Foundation, Welfare Foundation, Laffey-McHugh Foundation, Barclays US Consumer Bank, and Discover Bank. Contributions from these and other sponsors made it possible for the nonprofits to win more than half a million dollars in cash prizes and other grants through the event. Event sponsorships for 2022 start at $500 and the larger sponsors are promoted in different ways to the participating nonprofits, on social media, and through the event's 24-hour livestream. If you know an organization that would be interested in sponsoring this ever-growing event and reaching thousands of Delawareans, contact the Do More 24 DE Team at team@domore24de.org.
