The Dover Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will host its 2022 JROTC College Scholarship Fundraiser from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at Roma’s/Sul Tempo, 3 President’s Way, Dover.
When diners identify themselves as supporting the MOAA JROTC Fundraiser—either open seating onsite dining or takeout orders-- Roma will donate 20% of the invoice the chapter’s scholarship program benefitting graduating JROTC cadets in Kent County.
The Dover MOAA gives several $1500 scholarships and one for $2,500 in memory of Colonel George Findley, USAF annually. These scholarships are based on the cadet’s JROTC training accomplishments, academic performance, and community service involvement.
Last year’s MOAA scholars all made the Dean’s lists the first semesters.
Grant Kidner was the Findley Scholar. He is attending The Citadel, Charleston SC, majoring in Construction Engineering. Samara "Sam" Jacobs is attending Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, IN, majoring in General Studies. Nathan "Nate" Poplos is attending St. Francis University in Loretto PA, majoring in Biology/Pre-Med. Jacobs and Poplos received $1500 each.
Kidner and Jacobs graduated from First State Military Academy and Poplos graduated from Caesar Rodney.
Applications are being accepted for this year between now and Saturday, March 19, 2022. Cadets should apply through their JROTC Instructors.
