When someone is diagnosed with breast cancer, it is often helpful to speak with someone who is a survivor and has been through a similar breast cancer journey. The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s Peer Mentor Support for Breast Cancer program provides just that- FREE one-on-one support and education to those newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is recruiting new peer mentors who are ready to give back to their communities and support those who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer in Delaware. DBCC is hosting a New Mentor Training on June 28, 2023, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Eden Hill Medical Center, 200 Banning St. Dover, DE 19904, in the Third Floor Conference Room. A light dinner will be provided. Space is limited to 12 seats, and registration is required. Anyone interested in the training can register with Connie Holdridge at choldridge@debreastcancer.org .
DBCC Peer Mentors are trained breast cancer survivors who wish to reach out to help and support others with breast cancer. The organization has a large network of survivors, some of whom speak languages other than English, as well as young breast cancer survivors, all of whom are eager and willing to help other young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
As one Peer Mentor shared, “Breast cancer has its own language; it’s difficult to navigate through all the information, research, anxiety, and fear. I hope I can help someone else get through this and not just survive - but thrive!”

About Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is a 501(c)(3) organization offering statewide programs and services. The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Inc. empowers our community by raising awareness of breast health issues through survivorship support services, outreach and education, in order to facilitate the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
Its vision is to create a community where every person diagnosed with breast cancer is a survivor, and fear and doubt are replaced with knowledge and hope. The DBCC also supports the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s advocacy efforts to end breast cancer.
Headquartered in Wilmington with offices in Kent and Sussex Counties, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s programs reach diverse communities to deliver messages that address their unique concerns about breast cancer and early detection. Recognizing the barriers of language, culture, and economics, DBCC trains community advocates through their Peer Mentor Program, as well as works to help educate and encourage women and men to take responsibility for their health through breast health presentations and community health fairs. In addition, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition helps those with low incomes and those with little or no insurance receive free or reduced-cost care.
