The State of Delaware Department of Insurance administers the Delaware Workplace Safety Program in coordination with the Delaware Compensation Rating Bureau. The Workplace Safety Program is an incentive program offering discounts on workers compensation insurance premiums for eligible employers who elect to participate. In exchange for undergoing a safety inspection, businesses may earn workers compensation insurance discounts up to 19 percent. The Delaware Compensation Rating Bureau determines businesses that are eligible and the percentage of the discount applied to the workers compensation insurance policy. Participation in the Workplace Safety Program is voluntary. Failure to qualify cannot be the basis for premium increases or sanctions imposed by other safety enforcement authorities. There are no penalties for failing to qualify.
