The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce (CDCC) joined Harvest Years Senior Center for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate their membership with the CDCC.

The agency was incorporated in 1977 with the intention to be operated as a Senior Center having as its central focus “Seniors Helping Seniors”. There are two programs operated by Harvest Years - a Shopping Program and a Senior Center Program. Both programs fulfill the Harvest Years, Mission: To Build, Maintain and Improve one’s abilities “AS A WAY OF LIFE” for the past 40 years.

The Senior Center Program provides a friendly, supportive, family-like environment in which social, recreational, educational, outreach and daily meal activities occur on weekdays for individuals who are 50 years of age and older. The Shopping Program has evolved from the original Brown Bag Program, providing commodity food for home bound seniors. Presently, the Shopping Program is serving 126 eligible, age 60 and over home bound Kent County, Delaware seniors. This program provides assistance to individuals with their grocery shopping and concurrent stops for the client’s bank, pharmacy or post office needs. A $3.00 trip fee was started in October of 2003 to partially defray the costs of the Shopping Program. Prior to that time the program had been operated on a donation only basis.

Harvest Years Senior Center is located at 30 South Street Camden, Delaware 19934. Give them a call today at 302-698-4285 or visit www.harvestyears.org for more information.
