Dover, DE

The Polytech Adult Education District is extremely excited to present their new School of Aviation Maintenance program and the exciting new workforce opportunities it presents for students! PSAM’s mission is to prepare participants for new and improved employment opportunities in the aviation maintenance industry through its three new training and certification programs. A profession in this field of study and practice is crucial in ensuring that various types of aircraft are suitable for flight and use. An Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing issues of an aircraft, maintaining compliance, replacing mechanical and electrical parts of the vehicle, abiding by federal regulations, and more pertaining to aircraft such as planes and helicopters.

Polytech’s new program is located in the Aero Park Business Center in Dover and will offer a daytime pre-apprenticeship program in General Aviation for individuals interested in starting a career in the aviation maintenance industry, an evening Registered Apprenticeship program in Aviation Maintenance for individuals working in the field seeking skill development training and career advancement, and a daytime Airframe & PowerPlant (A&P) certification prep class for individuals with aviation maintenance experience seeking a nationally recognized industry credential.

“Transportation & logistics is a rapidly expanding industry in Kent County. While our program is not new, this area of programming is new for us.  The proximity of this facility to Dover Air Force Base and the Civil Air Terminal is extremely helpful,” writes Betsy Jones, Polytech Adult Education Director.

The Polytech Adult Education team is thrilled to bring this learning and career-expansion opportunity to Central Delaware because of the positive impact it will create for not only those who are interested in this career path, but the region as whole, in connection with the key economic driver, the Dover Air Force Base.

The Polytech Adult Education program has been a strong workforce development resource in Central Delaware, and this new program will only continue to strengthen job growth, economic development, community job readiness and employment in Kent County and throughout the state/region.
