Loockerman St. Charrette: Collaborative Effort to Enhance Community Spaces

The Loockerman Street Design Study team, which includes the Dover Kent MPO, City of Dover, Kittleson and Associates Engineering, and the Downtown Dover Partnership, will hold a Charrette on Monday, May 13, 2024, through Wednesday, May 15, 2024. The team invites residents, business owners, and stakeholders to join forces in reimagining and revitalizing Loockerman Street.

 

Hosted at the Hive on Loockerman, located at 28 W Loockerman Street, the three-day event promises a dynamic series of meetings, activities, and discussions to identify needs and share innovative ideas for enhancing Loockerman Street.

 

Day 1: Understanding the Corridor - Monday, May 13, 2024

 

The inaugural day begins with an event orientation at 9:30 am,followed by a corridor walk along Loockerman Street. After a lunch break,participants will engage in teamwork sessions, culminating the day with apublic open house and presentation starting at 5:00 pm.

 

Day 2: Reimagining the Corridor - Tuesday, May 14, 2024

 

Day two focuses on reimagining the corridor with topicdiscussions tailored for businesses, neighborhoods, and key stakeholders suchas DelDOT and DART, as well as the City of Dover. The day concludes withanother teamwork session aimed at synthesizing insights and ideas.

 

Day 3: Bringing Corridor Ideas to Life - Wednesday, May 15,2024

 

During teamwork sessions, participants will delve deeperinto refining ideas on the final day. A lunchtime open house at the Hive from11:30am until 1:30pm offers broader community engagement opportunities. Theevent culminates with a dinnertime open house and presentation at The Hive from5:00pm-6:30pm.

 

Drop-ins throughout the charrette are welcomed duringteamwork sessions, providing an inclusive platform for all community members tocontribute and interact with the project team and materials.
