The Dover Kent Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is pleased to announce a series of public workshops to present findings, new projects, growth patterns, transportation and infrastructure needs, and more as part of their long-term Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), "Innovations 2050." These workshops will provide an opportunity for the community to learn about the plan's development and provide input on the future of transportation in the region over the next 20 years.
Mike Petit de Mange, Principal Planner for the Dover Kent MPO and the lead on the Innovations 2050 plan, expressed his enthusiasm about sharing the progress with the public. "We have been working on this since January, and we have until this January to get it all done," he said. "This is a chance for the public to see what we've accomplished so far and make any comments, suggestions, or requests before the final draft."
Marilyn Smith, Executive Director of the Dover Kent MPO, emphasized the importance of community participation in the planning process. "It is crucial for the public to get involved in transportation planning because they represent the end users of these projects," she stated. "Their input is vital to ensuring that the quality of the transportation experience meets their needs and expectations."
The workshops will take place on the following dates and locations:
· September 16, 5-7 PM at the Public Works Building in Milford, Delaware
· September 17, 6-8 PM at Citizens' Hose Banquet Hall in Smyrna, Delaware
· September 18, 6-8 PM at Camden Town Hall in Camden, Delaware
All workshops will be conducted in an open-house format, allowing the public to stop by any time during the scheduled hours. Attendees can view presentations, speak directly with MPO staff, and provide valuable feedback that will help shape the final version of Innovations 2050. The Dover Kent MPO encourages all community members to participate in these critical discussions and help guide the future of transportation in Kent County.
