Public Workshop to Gather Community Input for Transportation Study in Little Creek
The Town of Little Creek, in collaboration with the Dover Kent Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO),invites the public to a community workshop on February 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM to7:30 PM at the Little Creek Fire Company. The workshop will allow residents and stakeholders to share their ideas and feedback for an ongoing study focused on improving transportation safety and connectivity in the town.
Malcolm Jacob from the MPO explained that the study's goal is to create better connections in Little Creek, allowing residents and visitors to safely enjoy the town by walking and biking. "This study will help us identify ways to enhance the town’s walkability and biking options, making it easier and safer for people to get around," Jacob said.
The study evaluates existing conditions, including current sidewalks, crosswalks, pedestrian traffic flow, vehicle speeds, and the locations of crashes involving pedestrians and vehicles. Based on community feedback and further analysis, recommendations will be made to improve transportation safety and connectivity. Main Street, the town’s most heavily used road, will be a key focus, along with enhancing connections to nearby areas such as Bayside Drive, Port Mahon Road, North Little Creek Road, and South Little Creek Road.
"We’re eager to hear from the community about their experiences and ideas for improving how people move around the town," said Mr. Jacob. "This workshop is an important step in ensuring the study reflects the needs and priorities of our residents."
While the study is still in its early stages, the feedback gathered at this workshop will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the recommendations. The focus will be on identifying deficiencies in the town’s current pedestrian network to create a safer, more accessible environment for walking and biking.
