Beach & DAFB Air Show Traffic Expected In Dover This Weekend

The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is prepared for heavy traffic volumes on Saturday and Sunday, as both beachgoers and aeronautic-enthusiasts make their way through central and southern Delaware.
This weekend motorists should note that the Dover Air Force Base Open House and Air Show will occur on Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27. Approximately 200,000 visitors are expected at the Air Show. Likewise, beach-bound motorists will be making their way through the Dover area and southern Delaware.
Motorists are encouraged to travel during off peak times after 9 p.m. on Friday evening or early Saturday morning. Return travel from the southern Delaware on Sunday is also anticipated to be heavy.
DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) and WTMC-1380 AM provides motorists real-time traffic conditions throughout the state. Motorists can contact the TMC 24/7 to report any travel or traffic related issues at the following numbers: Dial #77 from any cell phone; (302) 659-4600; or 1-800-324-8379.
Motorists may adjust their routes or travel times by using DelDOT’s Smartphone application. The DelDOT App is available for Apple & Android smart phones and tablets, and can be downloaded free, search for “DelDOT” at the Apple and Google Play stores. With the DelDOT App you can view real time traffic cameras, travel times, delays, advisories, DART’s Real-Time Transit Information, and also listen to WTMC 1380 AM.
